I am currently a PhD candidate at the University of Massachusetts—Amherst working with Jeff Podos and Luke Remage-Healey. I am an evolutionary and behavioral neuroscientist interested in vocal communication and recognition systems. My current research explores the mechanisms of species-specific song discrimination in songbirds. My dissertation will use playback experiments, immunohistochemistry, and electrophysiological response techniques to explore the innate encoding of species templates in passerines. Before starting at UMass, I earned my master's degree at East Carolina University studying vocal communication and acoustic monitoring of King Rails.
